Since its creation in 2003 and up to 2011, Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art kept on extending its collection. During these eight years, the museum has been accumulating a wide number of artworks created by both Chinese and international artists, whatever their age. The collection embraces all medium, from painting to installation, photography and sculptures to other type of creations.

The artworks currently displayed have been collected throughout time in different manners. For instance, some of them have been acquired after past exhibitions held at the museum, while artists who did a residency have given others.

For this exhibition we have meticulously selected specific artworks from our storehouse, which gives a favourable occasion to the audience to discover or rediscover them.

We hope that this exhibition will develop the museum’s collecting practices, academic research and educational potentials. By the same token, we hope that this opportunity will allow the artworks to disclose once again our convictions regarding art value and its social meanings.
