Established in 1997, with the aim to be an “internationalized, specialized, and market-oriented” art fair, Shanghai Art Fair has been one of Shanghai’s signal foreign cultural exchange events praised by Shanghai Municipal Government. After ten years development, Shanghai Art Fair now has become the largest and the most internationalized art trade event throughout Asia.
　　
In 1999, it has witnessed the first edition of Shanghai International Art Festival organized by Ministry of Culture, People’s Republic of China and Shanghai Municipal Government. Since then, Shanghai Art Fair, with its high art standard and quality, has become one of the most important activities among this national-level art festival.
