Installation with audio device, drawing on paper
Two pieces of golden glass are framed into a 1980’s Chinese wooden door. The door stands straight on the ground, its pastel green color, which reflects a certain period of time, contrasting with the gold of the glasses. The unidirectional reflective glass, a golden mirror under the sunshine, interacts with the viewer providing him with a confused image of himself and of what lies behind the door of the Golden Age.
From time to time, an audio device repeats the sound of building falling and objects breaking. The old door, the fuzzy mirror and the surrounding sounds tell people’s desire and fear for the Golden Age. The future does always appear “golden”, but also the time to which the old door and the faded colors belonged to was beautiful. How can we define the things of today through the mirror? Maybe we can perceive life only when we stop fantasizing about the future.
