The exhibition will focus on the evolution of experimental easel painting. Curated by art critic Cui Cancan, FEIZI Gallery invited three young artists who are exploring the theme of experimental painting through their works. Living in different cities. they research and explore the possibilities of both the concept and art form of easel painting, infused by the vitality of Chinese contemporary art.

Different from past exhibitions, this production of FEIZI Art Club is not limited its theme, but instead uses it as a starting point for exploration of the key issues and media types of contemporary Chinese art. FEIZI Art Club hopes to study the current situation of Chinese contemporary art, to look for outstanding artists and artworks in different fields, and to let viewers think about and enjoy new visual vistas. Meanwhile, the exhibbion mill each time invite three artists who are representable of their fields and present them through their many years of creative production. One special guest will be invited to give an art talk far each exhibition in the series. They will invite art critics, art curators, art historians, literary critics, screenwriters, magazine editors, etc. The are critic He Guiyan will give a lecture for FEIZI Art Club members.

"Experimental Painting Manual" is a study of and experiment about contemporary Chinese art. It is an experiment not without purpose, an experiment not without rules. It is an experiment as a means for stepping forward, to study and explore the spectrum and pertinence of Chinese contemporary art. This experiment only has meaning in the context of a system of perspective. 'Experimental Painting Manual' referrers to the classic book for traditional Chinese painting: "Painting Manual of Mustard Seed Garden Huapu". This book is a major textbook of Chinese traditional painting and has become an important resource for generations of Chinese artists. In this sense, "Experimental Painting Manual" is not simply a test of each individual's work. Rather, the ultimate hope is to have a continuing impact on both art history and its future. This would be the highest contribution of the experiment.

The artist Shen Liang has created a large number of magazine cover pages and movie posters through a unique language of painting, presenting the artistic impact of productions of that special era. Similarly, the graffiti approach makes the paintings valuable and significant for a reconsideration of art history. The artist Huang Yishan replaces emotional thinking with rational thinking through a process of describing specific spaces and scenes, tracing the process of convening a subject into its physical manifestation. The artist Wang Jun is quite interested in the structural relationship of painting to its visual mechanisms. He explores the speculative and openness formed between painting and its impact on viewers, by contrasting physical paintings and their interpretations. Based on these specific experiments, they hope through this exhibition to show easel paintings' many dimensions and possibilities.
