Beijing based artist, Feng Mengbo has been working along the blurred boundary between digital gaming and contemporary art for the past two decades. His quirky digital inventions and experimental modifications of commercial video games have come to inhabit a new media space truly of its own. Feng has extensively used gaming hardware and software for both social commentary as well as the development of performance projects, and even painting.

His latest exhibition at Shanghai Gallery of Art, titled after the classic Chinese fable, 'Journey to the West' will showcase newly commissioned works by the artist. In this show Feng will magically transform the gallery space into a realm of fantasy and the supernatural. Through new-media installation and painting works Feng will render this famous Chinese tale into a contemporary story of today's Shanghai.
