Beaugeste Gallery in Tianzifang has a new show, with artist Xiao Xuan’an.
Xiao Xuan’an is a “docu-conceptual” photographer from Wuhan who used to be very famous for his performance art in the early 1990’s notably about the displaced population due to Three Gorges Dam.
His new work is more contemplative:
One year after the tragic earthquake of Wenchuan, Xiao went to document the damage caused to temples and historical monuments. There he found these 800 fallen Arhats – lying strewn in the wind, left to no one’s care.
