Utopia - zoo
by Shun Art Gallery
Location: Shun Art Gallery
Date: 12 May - 2 Jun 2012

Utopia is an ideal community or society possessing a perfect socio-politico-legal system. It comes from the book written by Thomas More, describing a fictional island in the Atlantic Ocean. The term has been used to describe both international communities that attempt to create ideal society and fictional societies portrayed in literature. It has spawned other concepts most prominently dystopia.
Money, lust for power, substance occur a lot of problem in today’s society and it is becoming far away from Utopia.

This time ShunArtGallery invited four artists from three countries, China, Japan, and Belgium. Chinese Artist Beibang, Yangbingliang, Japanese Artist Gekko Numata, Belgium Artist Koen Segers. And we can feel the painter’s expression and thinking as they drew animals.

This exhibition not only told the story of Animals in this world but it also gives some insight into a problem “What is utopia?” On the Animal exhibit you will find over 30 animals that form an utopia in our Gallery. Because they can no longer survive in the wild.
