A more figurative series of watercolor sketches entitled Travel Notes, showcase Lantsev's range and skill as an artist.

Masterful in his manipulation of water-based mediums, the sketches, seem to shimmer with the heat of exotic southern scenes or fade in the mist of northern landscapes. Some sketches have an unabashed fauve (wild) quality about them, a rejoicing and exclamation of colour while others offer a purposefully muted palette. Once again Lantsev makes the paints dance off the paper and the brushstrokes looks like the are still wet to the touch. His focus on water-based medium sets him apart from many artists as re-interprets the medium in a radical and contemporary way.
