Galerie Daniel TempIon was founded in 1966, rue Bonaparte in Paris. by Daniel TempIon who was then 21 years old.

Since the beginning Galerie Daniel TempIon has focused on international contemporary art. Many influential artists now part of art history, have exhibited with the gallery, which moved to its current location in 1972, Arman, Art8Language. Carl Andre, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Christian Boltanski, Daniel Buren, Jean-Marc Bustamante, Anthony Cam, Cesar, Francesco Clemente, Jake and Dinos Chapman. George Condo, Enz.:, Cucchi, Richard Deacon, Jim Dine, Dan Flavin, Raymond Heins, Gerard Garouste. Jorg Immendorff, Donald Judd, Peter Halley, Keith Haring, Ellsworth Kelly, Wilhem de Kooning, Joseph Kosuth, Scl LeWitt, Roy Uchtenstein, Robert Mapplethorpe, Helmut Newton, Mimmo Palladino, Jaurne Plensa, Ed Ruscha, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, David Salle, Julian Schnabel, Richard Serra. Joel Shapiro, Frank Stella. Juan Lisle, Claude Mallet, Lawrence Weiner, Andy Warhol among many others.

This long history has given the gallery a unique position in France with strong ties to creation and institutions. Daniel Tampion has always been a spokesperson for the promotion on contemporary art in France. In 1972, he co-founded the magazine Art press with Catherine Millet. In 1986, he founded and directed Ar/studio, a magazine devoted to the analysis of trends in contemporary art. The Fondation Daniel TempIon was established in Frejus in 1989 and closed in 1992. In 1994, he was a founding member of the ADIAF, a collectors group, which awards every year an artist with the Marcel Duchamp prize.

Today, the gallery actively represents a group of thirty international artists. The program favors a dialogue between classical contemporary art and the experiments of younger artists. In 2007, the gallery opened a second space "Impasse Beaubourg" accross the street.

Delete Daniel TempIon participates in many international art fairs such as FIAC. ARTBASEL or The Armory Show, and is a member of the Comite des gaieties d'art.
