The facades of the building are gradually mottled, faster and faster with the passing of time. Meanwhile, the walking passages also change the way of how we perceive our living space – while we walk within the space, we fail to measure the geographical distance. Now, the secret of Kuo-Mao Community is unveiled. As a community built in a circular shape, it stands silently at the border of downtown Kaohsiung City as if it is whispering about the transformation of the building which is untouched by the ages.
Following the changing numbers on the digital board, the artist reveals a series of theatrical scenes. The structure which is repeated without consciousness has demonstrated the most natural and the most primitive images of the inhabitants. They look calm and quiet. The number keeps changing on the digital board, signifying the passing of time. Nevertheless, Kuo-Mao Community stays the same, just like the self-sufficient place where Vladimir and Estragon can survive forever to wait for Godot in Samuel Becket’s play. Between the optimistic and the pessimistic, the artist captures the conflicting essence of life.
