National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMOFA) was founded in 1988. It was temporarily closed for rebuilding in 1999 due to widespread devastation caused by the September 21 earthquake, and reopened in July 2004 with the brand new look. A rectangular-shaped building laid out on an East-West axis, the museum has three floors and a basement, with a surface area of 38,000 square meters in total, covering the exhibition space (Exhibit Halls A to E) of 8,400 square meters. The outdoor courtyard of the museum comprises a total area of 102,000 square meters.

The newly renovated museum provides an open and friendly educational environment. With the new addition of the Family Room, DigiArk, the public outdoor sculpture park and other facilities. The NTMOFA of the 21st century is dedicated to providing art education, art resources and recreational opportunities to the public.
