Celebration by Marc Chagall
Artist(s): Marc CHAGALL
Date: 4 Jun - 14 Aug 2011

Marc Chagall acquires a prominent position in the history of 20th century western art. Tested and baptized by cubism, surrealism and modern art, Chagall’s works display a distinctive individual style, which are rich in color, romance, and poetic fantasy. He is extremely sensitive to life, art and love. Thus, Chagall links love and the world through his paintings, making them full of love and light.

The exhibit “Celebration by Marc Chagall“ will bring us to Chagall’s world brimming with love and beauty. Using his known painting “L’ anniversaire” as the backbone, Chagall conveys his passion for love, family and his country through his work. Flying birds, couples, bouquets, performers in a circus, brides are the presentation of love and beauty, reveling the beams of love and praising the colorful pages of a cheerful life.

The exhibit goes on at the museum from June 4th to August 14th . Among 114 paintings are classic oil paintings such as “Au-dessus de la ville”、” Les Mariés de la Tour Eiffel” and two fantastic block prints—“Cirque”and“Poêmes”. These exhibits are the collections mainly from major art galleries in Japan and enterprises. Chagall’s family also provides some significant works such as “La pendule à l’aile bleue” , many of which are personal collections that has never been on exhibit before. Through various channels, the great effort of displaying these paintings in Taiwan has paid off. We highly recommend you to obtain this golden chance to get closer to these masterpieces. During the exhibit, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts specially designs a series of education promotional activities, providing all art lovers of Chagall a cultural summer feast full of love and beauty.

Our museum is in collaboration with the United Daily News Group. A ticket must be purchased.
