D Project is pleased to present 'VERYTHINGS: Curious Kitchen' by a creators group VERYTHINGS. Dreaming of utopian life in everyday life, VERYTHINGS has continuously performed experiments on urban nature and food culture. This exhibition highlights the group’s new approach that makes food and food environment more interesting.

The Kitchen that is realized by the artists is not an ordinary kitchen, but the eccentric place: nothing is cooked or eaten. VERYTHINGS introduces the contemporary phenomena around food as ‘Eating Life’ of these days, using the sensuous language with ‘food culture of everyday life’ as a medium. Especially, the main section ‘Curious Kitchen’ asks various questions about food and the food culture of today to viewers, based on the curiosities and the observations on the phenomena around food. Also, through the intriguing installations that connect elements of the kitchen and research, the ‘Curious Kitchen’ introduces an ordinary food culture as a new life style. In the ‘Food Film Meal’ section, Food Films made by the world-wide contemporary creators are shown as ‘favorite menu’ of the kitchen. In this section, viewers are invited to watch films as if they taste food, and their experience of tasting food is converted into a ‘tasting interest’. Through this presentation, viewers are able to recognize their sense of taste via visual experience. 

By combining interesting approaches, broad research, witty interpretations and sensuous presentations of the artists, the exhibition provides viewers the opportunity to discover new aesthetic values hidden behind the food they encounter in everyday lives. Free from the stereotypes or the ordinary perspective on food in general, this show adds the new meanings and values to the food culture by suggesting that it contains fun and sophisticated cultural contents.

VERYTHINGS is a creators group that has been involved in creative activities with a fundamental philosophy of ‘Urban Utopian Living.’ Based on extensive research, VERYTHINGS constantly studies and rebuilds a new concept of nature and food, the most essential factors in our life. Most of its artworks are realized into installations, the publication of ‘BOOKAZINE,’ and ‘VERYKIPEDIA’, the online library. Throughout this process, VERYTHINGS recreates various issues of food culture and nature in a highly sensuous way, and introduces utopian life hidden in an ordinary daily life.
