Persistent Illusions
Artist(s): Troika
Date: 10 Apr - 12 Oct 2014

Daelim Museum is pleased to present a major exhibition by Troika (Eva Rucki (b. 1976, Germany), Conny Freyer (b. 1976, Germany) and Sebastien Noel (b. 1977, France).

The exhibition brings together both existing and new works that deliver the investigative nature of Troika’s unique practise and reveals the full breadth of their work in a wide variety of media, from sculpture and drawing to contemporary installation.
Using a wide variety of materials, such as lenses, light, rope, dust or dice, Troika’s expansive, multi-layered works explore the dynamics of perception and reality; fact and purpose; space and object, in an arena where knowledge is fused with belief.
An interest in the effects of science gives Troika the impetus to expand the ways in which we are able to think about our world. Their work suggests that just as different maps can give accounts of the same territory, so can different forms of knowledge give an image about the material world.
In this exhibition, the artists will put into play a number of objects and spatial installations that expand the contexts of knowledge, our historical and culturally embedded perspectives, the materiality of the world and experience of space to instigate a dialogue that takes place with the unknown and otherness.

Troika has been featured in numerous group shows at institutions such as: the MoMA New York (2008), the Victoria & Albert Museum London (2009), The Art Institute of Chicago (2009), Tate Britain (2007), and their work is represented in the permanent collections of the Israel Museum Jerusalem, British Council, The Art Institute of Chicago, Victoria and Albert Museum and the Museum Of Modern Art New York. In 2010 Troika were selected to create three art installations for the UK Pavilion at the World Expo Shanghai.
