The Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair Seoul 2010
Date: 27 Aug - 29 Aug 2010

A Midsummer Themed Art Market in the Shilla hotel, AHAF Seoul 2010
The Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair (AHAF) under the auspices of ASIA ART NET will be held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, from August 27 to 29, 2010, to exchange Asian art and unify the Asian art market, following the successful opening of the Grand Hyatt Seoul in 2009.

This art fair, being held in hotel including the Pool Art Fair and the Aqua Art Fair, has been held successfully in the United States, Japan, and Korea as a new form of art fair.
Compared to the general art fair exhibition at the White Cube, this exhibition will utilize hotel rooms by offering paintings on beds and sculptures in bathtubs. In addition, this new display concept will allow prospective buyers the chance to imagine the paintings as they will look displayed in their own rooms. In addition, the privacy of the hotel room is attractive to both sellers and their customers as an excellent business space.
Moreover, the Shilla Seoul, one of world’s leading hotels nestled in the center of Seoul, combines traditional Korean beauty with modern design. The Shilla Seoul is a deeply meaningful first site for AHAF Seoul.

One will be able to view exhibitions from premier galleries in Asia along with many special ones for AHAF. AHAF Seoul’s goals are to promote and foster emerging artists from Asia. The AHAF Young Artist Program, exhibiting selected artists through a contest, will also be held. Moreover, AHAF has prepared a variety of programs that will be held during the fair, including sculpture exhibitions from established Korean sculptors, a photo exhibition by actor and photographer Minki Zio, who used the hotel room itself to make artwork by maximizing hotel spaces, and a pop art exchange exhibition from Korea and Japan planned by Japanese critic Sanda Haruo.

The event will be sponsored by the Shilla, Samsung card <RAUME>, and the Hyundai Department Store, and will be supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Arts Council Korea, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the Seoul Foundation
forArts and Culture. AHAF Seoul will have as its centerpiece an exhibition featuring about 3,000 works of art, shown over three days, with the participation of more than 70 premier galleries from Korea, China, and Japan.
