AHAF Seoul 2013
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 23 Aug - 25 Aug 2013

Since AHAF first introduced the concept of hotel art fair in Korea in 2009, a number of similar hotel art fairs has emerged and the concept became no longer new to the audience. With that, AHAF has been continuously striving to distinguish itself from others by holding two major fairs in Hong Kong and Korea every February and August. As a result, AHAF has achieved its success as one of the leading hotel art fairs in Asia with oldest history and largest scale.

CONRAD SEOUL, an international luxury flagship brand hotel established by Hilton Worldwide, is selected as the venue for AHAF SEOUL 2013. Newly opened and conveniently located in International Finance Center in Yeouido, the heart of bustling business and financial district of Seoul, CONRAD SEOUL proudly provides 82% of the guest rooms the astonishing view of Han River and the bright city lights. Equipped with largest guest rooms among many premium hotels in Seoul, CONRAD SEOUL harmonize perfectly with the creative mood of AHAF SEOUL 2013.

As one of the most successful hotel art fairs, AHAF has been renewed this year as an exclusive, private art fair by limiting access as a VIP and invited guests only event. AHAF strives to uncover a new group of collectors, not only including the existing art collectors but also the newly-started art collectors by providing

dynamic programs such as powerful art lectures, increased VIP DAYs, and separate private VIP lounges. Furthermore, AHAF is curating three special exhibitions: contemporary Chinese Art Exhibition (including artists such as Zhou Tiehai, Ji Dachun, Zhong Biao, He Jie and Ma Liuming), a collaborative exhibition with Seoul International Financial Center (IFC) of young artists who had been introduced through previous AHAFs, and AHAF YOUNG ARTISTS Special Exhibition, a project started since 2010 to discover young and talented Asian artists. As a part of the preview for YOUNG ARTISTS, an evaluation exhibition titled 'Open Ended Question' took place in Keumsan Gallery Seoul from June 5th to 18th, 2013. The exhibition included the semifinalists and allowed the audience to enjoy and select the finalists to be submitted to AHAF SEOUL 2013.

Korea’s major galleries such as Gana Gallery, OPERA GALLERY Seoul, ARTSIDE GALLERY Seoul, LEE HWAIK GALLERY, Gallery IHN, KEUMSAN GALLERY, CAIS GALLERY, and GALERIE BHAK will be participating in the event. And works of the influential and established Asian artists such as Atta Kim, Lee Ufan, and Takashi Murakami will also be exhibited.

AHAF SEOUL 2013 is held with the support of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Seoul Metropolitan Council, Seoul Foundation Arts and Culture, CONRAD SEOUL, Korea Securities Finance Corporation, Vacheron Constantin, Perrier, Darphin, Indulge Korea, and OB Beer. The exhibition will be held in 60 rooms of CONRAD SEOUL, including about 3000 pieces of 50 Asian galleries and 400 artists.
