The 12th Korea Experimental Arts Festival
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 12 Dec - 23 Dec 2013

Fluxus movement led by Nam June Paik, John Cage and Joseph Beuys became a cornerstone of contemporary performance art. Key members of Fluxus tell that many artists from different genre, such as visual art, music, performance, architecture, and literature, were collaborated, which is a core point to define a characteristic of performance. Fluxus has effected on various types of arts as representing flow, infinite change and movement, and artists worked in Fluxus expresses experimental artistry and zeitgeist. However, nowadays, 'performance art' after 1990s cannot find a new and unprecedented form of arts which can be equal to Fluxus, and even it goes backward.

Korea Experimental Arts Festival in 2013 is where to show artist's spirit for social and environmental issues in contemporary society, and it tries to open an art road for artist's research on corporeality, spirituality, civilization and destruction of the environment. Also, as identifying a difference and characteristic of different physical environments, city and island, the festival will find a new way to be at the heart of human and social environment.

With 70 artists from 15 countries, it criticizes experimental art of today and talks about 'next.' Especially, there will be 50 artists participating in '444 performance relay' at Seoul Art Space in Seogyo. During establishment time, artists break own art world and seek for new identity.
