The Blue Hour: Boundary between Functions and Aesthetics
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 11 Sep - 15 Oct 2013

'Blue hour' is a term to explain the time between day and night around the time of dusk or dawn when the sky is colored with a blue tone. It is an expression to explain the beauty and anticipation of the future that comes toward the present, which is a moment of vagueness of confusion. 'Open Call for Da Vinci Idea' is a support program that stands in the 'Blue Hour of technology and art, functions and aesthetics.' Inaugurated in 2010, the program celebrates its fourth year in 2013.

'Open Call for Da Vinci Idea' is different from the most media art exhibitions that aime to achieve aesthetic accomplishment. Rather than providing the result, the program provides a chance to understand the contribution of technology to the form and essence of art by working with artists and their work that are based on technology. Through this, it proposes potential of 'art' to inspire and contribute technology.

The current showcase presents different modes and expressions of how 'art' can inspire technology that formulate our future within our lives under the tension and confusion of function and aesthetics within the age of rapid technological changes.
