Encouraged by last year's huge success, Seoul Open Art Fair is again stepping an inch forward to present works with more solid ideas and resonant messages. Aboriginal Art, one of last year's special exhibitions and which impressed a great number of Korean audiences with its vibrant primitive energy is expanding its horizon and showing broader spectrum of its art including glass, ceramics and sculpture works. Also, two corporate collaborative shows with BMW and ABSOULT are on their way to welcome the public with their unique language and spirit. BMW is staging an installation that requests the audiences to engage all their senses and ABSOLUT is introducing 10 "new kids on the block" who are sure to bring in fresh air into our art scene.
Media art, with its rather unacquainted vocabulary has been regarded difficult to engage in. With a view to build up a friendly and accessible arena for this art, this year SOFA YOUNG MEIDA ART will be launched. The first of its series is Daily Landscape by Sinhae Yoon. The artist peeks into the mundane lives of the ordinary people as if zooming in on each of their moves and facial expressions. It would be a surprising experience to find out how the prism called art can filter through an unexpected and unfamiliar light into the dull, everyday life.
Seoul Open Art Fair started with a clear and simple objective, "Let us all enjoy and possess a piece of art works." In order to follow the eponymous title, SOAF promises to deliver the very up to date and modern exhibitions to the public audience.
