The World filled with Blanks
Artist(s): Soichiro MIHARA
Date: 10 May - 7 Jul 2013

I would like to have the visitors fill in the blank of now, and get small or big possibilities for their own lives. - Soichiro Mihara

As an artist who mainly deals with acoustics for expression, I concentrate to get the rich characterized vibration from now and here. What is the rich characterized vibration from now and here, and how we feel when we get it? "Now" is the feeling of each and every moment, also the acute consciousness about how now is only a single phase of the sequence of the stream of time. "Here" is the connection to the specific space with our whole body, or the imagination for the space beyond physical perception. Recently, I think the sense of "now and here" is already changing and includes opposite meaning like making something possible in anytime or anywhere. What I want to carry out is to get the liveliest vibration of "now and here" once again in contemporary context, with perspective of media technologies which change our perception unconsciously and our history that walks belong to them. Moreover, what is "richness"? I don't know much yet; nevertheless, now I think it is the existence of blanks. It's not emptiness as something lacking, but filled with clear blanks. The blanks make various relationships open among people, things and objects. Nothing can exist only by itself. I believe the blanks we always pay no attention to have the trigger for us to think anything free and motivate our imagination rich.
