Art Shanghai 2012
Date: 10 May - 14 May 2012

Background of the Carnival

ART Shanghai has been successfully held for nine consecutive years since its establishment in 2003. With its distinctive style and characteristic such as high quality, great artistry of works and excellent professional service, the fair takes the fancy of exhibitors and visitors. Its influence covering the whole nation and overseas areas, the fair has become a significant cultural brand of Shanghai, enjoying fairly high reputation throughout the world.

Year 2012 will be the tenth year for ART Shanghai. Based on this critical opportunity, the fair is going to present in a fresh new gesture a platform rich in content and novel in form for exhibition of art and trade of works to Shanghai and the world at large. Devoted to making a breakthrough in traditional exhibition conception, ART Shanghai will pay close attention to city and life in ways conforming and close to nature of the fair, in richer exhibition forms and in more diverse exhibition contents so as to realize the long-cherished hope of providing better services for exhibitors.

Selection of New Site for the Exhibition

ART Shanghai 2012 will be held in Hongqiao New Town Central Park based on its advantage of location in Hongqiao Development Zone and its ecological natural environment. Carnival is introduced as the form of the exhibition into the life of the public. This is also the first time for achieving the conception of outdoor exhibition in Asia. Located in the triangle encircled by Yan'an Rd., Hongqiao Rd. and Yili Rd., New Town Central Park covers an area of 130,000 square meters and borders on professional art institutes such as Shanghai Oil Painting & Sculpture Institute and Liu Haisu Art Gallery with a large number of elite visitors from numerous top office buildings and most populated highgrade communities and villas in the downtown area of Shanghai in Gubei and the West Suburb in vicinity.

New Form of Carnival

Apart from following its traditional exhibition method focusing on main parts, ART Shanghai Hong Qiao Arts Carnival will also take advantage of the unique geographic environment of the park and realize the art exhibition form characterized by its rich variety and edutainment integrating exhibition, entertainment, leisure and interaction.
