Each year since 1999, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo has held a MOT Annual exhibition to showcase new trends in art, with a focus on the Tokyo metropolis. This time, the 11th MOT Annual will look at artists who are carving out their own aesthetic worlds by selecting simple everyday methods, materials, and themes and working at them continuously. Their explorations of the world at their feet may appearsenstive, small, and closed, yet they in fact possess great flexibility, depth, and breadth of vision. Taking “Nearest Faraway / a nearby distant world” as its keyword, the exhibition will inquire into the potential of art and the meaning of creating art in our times.
