PLAYGROUNDS - CONTEMPORARY FRENCH PHOTOGRAPHY
|
|
| Date: 6 Apr - 2 May 2012
Three French photographers create contemporary landscapes where reality, fiction and abstraction overlap.
Stéphane Couturier captures building facades across the world. Focused on changing urban spaces, made of successive layers, seems like an ever-changing organism, moving towards an abstract image that tries to seize the tangible reality of objects and the virtual reality of their movement.
Alain Bublex, visual artist fascinated by architecture, design, travel and transport, uses fiction’s approach in his project Plug-in City, started in 2000, like Peter Cook‘s work Archigram 1964: modular cabins lifted by helicopter, grafted chaotically like prostheses on a city, form a second skin of futuristic outgrowths.
Gilbert Garcin (Mr. G) began photography at age 65. Using small productions, scissors and collages, he creates black and white self-portraits in unreal landscapes, endless mazes, racing against time, in surreal or absurd situations that remind us of Kafka, Becket or Magritte.
Venue: Avenue of Stars, Tsim Sha Tsui (Outdoor) Date: 06 Apr (Fri) - 02 May (Wed) Tickets: Free Admission
