The Mystic Tenmoko
Artist(s): KUO Ming-Ching
Date: 10 Feb - 18 Mar 2012

Artist's Statement

Ceramic artists everywhere have made much progress in the field of tenmoku glaze. Even though the works have moved beyond the confines of traditions, their elegance and refinement parallel the achievements from the past. I also dabbled with tenmoku early in my career. Even though I did not continue with it, I have always kept an eye on researches in the field.

I returned to working with tenmoku the past couple of years. Having tried many combinations of firing techniques and glaze recipes, I have crafted works I am proud of, such as oil drop glaze and hare’s fur glaze in gold, silver, purple, orange, red, blue and green. I name these various eye-catching, splendid glazes “mystic tenmoku.” I joyfully welcome all to come to the Yingge Ceramic Museum.
