You See Me, I See You is Audrey Tan’s first solo exhibition since the artist’s homecoming to Singapore. Visually surrealistic and deeply introspective, the showcase of conceptual photography is a celebration of memory, representing the beginning and the end of the artist’s personal journey in London.
More than a visual record, the series provokes a humanistic study into latent and deep-seated issues of connection and disconnection; isolation and belonging; loss and identity. An examination of the intrinsic self, the body of work can be perceived as a reflection of the artist’s own history, through portrait and self-portrait, and thus, representation and self-representation.
