Toward the Modernity: Images of Self & Other in East Asian Art Competitions

This exhibition brings together leading works originally seen in Kanten, the government sponsored exhibitions in Korea, Taiwan, Northeast China (former Manchuria) and Japan, around the time of Japanese rule.
The works shed light on little-known aspects of East Asian art, and characteristics of each nation and region. Numbering about 130 pieces from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
