Women have mesmerized and inspired people in the arts and letters for centuries. Visual artists, in particular, have viewed women, their roles, and the female form through varied styles. Whether realist or abstract, traditional or avant-garde, woman as an object of attention and desire continues to be of the one most compelling subjects of art.
In celebration of Women’s Month, the museum presents On the Subject of Woman. On view until April 20, the exhibit showcases a selection of women paintings from the museum’s permanent collection. Among the artists on display are Fernando Amorsolo, Angelito Antonio, Romulo Galicano, Cesar Legaspi, Anita Magsaysay-Ho, and H.R. Ocampo.
