The Pavilion of Realism is an international exhibition inspired by a similarly titled exhibition organized by Realist painter Gustave Courbet. Courbet's Realist Pavilion was a direct response to the rejection of one of his works from the 1855 Paris Universal Expo. The Pavilion of Realism updated the tension between the Universal Expo and Courbet's pavilion within the context of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.
