Where the story ends
by Gallery Chosun
Location: Gallery Chosun
Artist(s): Chinwook KIM
Date: 26 Sep - 17 Oct 2012

Painting by Chinwook Kim is unbound by time and space. Intricately carved lines form a shape of human body or plants, or sometimes they make some structures, such as a chair or swing. Like this, animals and plants or partial images of human body is the only specific part in scenery on painting.
The development of landscape is very sensual and mystique, especially in 'Inside and outside landscape' series, done by his gut feeling, literally becomes his inner mind and own world he imagined. Sufficient black space on the scene follows a flow of line and implies the possibility of new journey as it connects to the landscape beyond canvas.
The world he shows is maximizing as it doesn't provide specific information. Through abstract, he removes a gap between objects, and tells a desire for the completed world. However, landscape he suggests doesn't give a secret how to head towards that world. The time cannot be returned but narrative connecting prequel to sequel is made by the time. The truth is very subjective but one and only truth doesn't exist. Thus, a story is the most common way to make truth keep it real.
Where the fantastic story around his world ends, audience would find the landscape as it is before his/her eyes. Regardless of our supposition or interpretation, his world of art will be revealed wholly for the first.
