An exhibition of paintings by Archana, at the gallery from march 26th until april 15th. This small collection of works.. in the impressionistic style.  Began with an obsession some years ago after visiting an exhibition of works by Monet.  “Although I have seen his works several times in different museums it was not until this visit that the images completely possessed me  and then i simply could not get them out of my mind.”  It would seems arrogant to say anything other than that Monet completely took over my mind and I simply had to get it– and so began a series of works insipired by what I saw that day .”

The  use of colour ,brush storkes the several layers of paint creating texture on the canvase.  It appeared as though the brush just glides over the canvas creating light and shade, depth and shallow, an image that when you move back just falls into place .

Thus motivated i started on this series which then evolved into combining issues close to my heart or just scenes from my travel.  Mostly Istanbul - a city which has always stirred tremendous emotion within me. A city I love.
