Born in 1948 in Ching-tao City, China, Lo Ch'ing (also Luo Qing) comes from a traditional painting background. Using both Chinese ink-color painting and calligraphy techniques, Lo Ch'ing redefines and reinterprets Chinese painting. Also a poet, Lo Ch'ing creates a new graphic language system of his own that is deeply rooted in a surrealistic symbolism with a postmodern touch evident and ostensible in all his works.
