Frey Norris Gallery has become one of San Francisco’s most internationally renowned destinations for experiencing contemporary art. We present an eclectic program of exhibitions, publish catalogues and books, host art oriented, charitable and community events, and house a growing library and archive. FNG participates annually in art fairs in Miami, Dubai, Hong Kong and New York. Through this diverse array of activities we attract a broad audience, visitors seeking guidance in navigating a complex and evolving global art market.

Since 2002, our exhibitions and artists have been reviewed and featured in Art Forum, The International Herald Tribune, The Economist, The San Francisco Chronicle, Art in America, ARTnews, Art Ltd., Art Week, 7x7 Magazine, Yishu Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, SF Weekly, KQED's Emmy Award winning arts program Spark, CNBC, ABC, NPR, and on the Internet at Artnet, SF Gate, Artslant, Flavorpill and Shotgun Review, among others. We have placed works in and leant works to museums and important collections around the world, including the de Young Museum, The Cantor Art Center at Stanford University, The Seattle Art Museum, SFMOMA, The Museum of Art and Design in New York, The Palazzo Reale in Milan, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires and the Museo de Monterey and Museum of Modern Art in Mexico.

Our contemporary gallery features a varied roster of artists working primarily in California and Asia. We have hosted the American debuts of some of the most important artists in China, Korea, Pakistan, India, Iraq and Japan. These artists provoke, surprise and challenge, exploring new modes of meaning and expressing innovative perspectives in a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, animation, installation and box photography.

Our Annex, located above the main gallery on the third floor, focuses on classic Surrealism from its birth in 1924 to the 1960's, and specializes in important artists associated with this movement. Recent exhibitions include "Wolfgang Paalen: Implicit Spaces", "Leonora Carrington: The Talismanic Lens" and “Dorothea Tanning: Beyond the Esplanade”. Featured artists include Victor Brauner, Leonora Carrington, Óscar Domínguez, Max Ernst, Leonor Fini, André Masson, Wolfgang Paalen, Stella Snead, Dorothea Tanning and Remedios Varo, among others. The Annex possesses one of the most significant collections of Surrealism available in a private gallery in the United States.
