“Pure Land” , Painting by Chao Chong Seng, organized by Art For All Society (AFA), will run from June 17 to July 30, 2011 at AFA showroom. The exhibition will feature at ten of Chao’s paintings which were created from 1992 to 2010. This is the second solo exhibition of Chao Chong Seng after his exhibition at Instituto Português do Oriente.

Chao Chong Seng was born in Macau, he has participated in Macau Fine Arts Exhibition organized by Macau Artist Society for many years. In 1985, he was awarded a distinction in “International Young Artists Exhibition” and he got the Champion of western painting of the exhibition by student of visual arts. His art works have been selected to exhibit in “Chinese Proceeding Youth’s Art Exhibition” and “Collective Exhibition of Macau Artist” for many years. His paintings are collected by Macau Art Museum. Chao joined a Macau Cultural Group--- Espaco de Arte de Albergue in 1992.

Chao was one of the local art talents nurtured by the Macau Visual Arts Academy at St. Agostinho. He learned painting from Mio Pang Fai in those days and Mio’s influence might still be found in his works, especially in the construction of texture as well as the use of color, brushworks and composition. Besides, Chao had worked as Guo’s assistant and painter at Guo’s fifth-floor rooftop atelier to assist in his creations. This precious experience had greatly enriched the connotation of Chao’s paintings.

With his modest and low profile personality. Chao is rarely seen in exhibition openings (including those he participated artistically). He would rather devote himself in art creation in his tiny art studio. His works are never the extension of Mio Pang Fei or Guo Huan’s art creations. They are independent works which further express the artist’s own “language”. Some of Chao’s abstract paintings are very powerful but his other works can be extremely tranquil. Regardless of whether these feelings arose from the emotional impart in life, or from one’s inner awareness, his works convey a complex and evocative sensation.

The opening of this exhibition will take place at 6:30pm on Friday, 17 of June at AFA Macau, which located on Rua. Francisco X. Pereira No.45-49. FL-3, Ed. Lun Hing Knitting Factory, Macau. The exhibition period will last till 30 of July and the opening hours are from 10 am to 7 pm every day.
