Chris Hong (Hong Vong Hoi) was born in 1977 in Macau. He is now a freelancer. Very often in a will-less situation, Hong falls between his memory and imagination, and easily get obsessed. He fancies about meaningful things and people, as well as determine to live a meaningful life. His ways of achieving these is to appreciate simple happiness, to care for detail, to advocate simplicity and sincerity. He feels that life is a journey. Even without definite destination, he wants to follow his own heart, always.
Creative Statement:
For me, the most important meaning of photography is to record beautiful things and to create happiness. Its function is to preserve pictures, events, atmosphere, light and shadows or details which I find myself connected to, so that I can share with others and provide more evident for my remembrance in the future. It is already a bonus for me if someone else is impressed or feels the same way as I do. If I happen to encounter some ordinary but beautiful scenery, or to meet some simple but toughing stories by chances, I consider these as tasteful scenes in life. I hope audiences will leave with smile after they see the pieces from my exhibition.
