The Arts House presents: Spirits of the Nature, an exhibition by Claudia Gonzalez. The contact with nature is an important event in the life of every human being, especially in a green city like Singapore. Man is part of nature. Their relationship can be contradictory and paradoxical. Sometimes man is the lover of nature and sometimes he is her destroyer.
The lens of Claudia Gonzalez’s camera was captivated by the distillation of a spiritual substance impregnated in the natural landscape of Singapore, especially in its trees. Trees can talk, as famous Mexican writer Octavio Paz once said, “They are matter and spirit. In them, the secret of this complex love made of vitality and destruction that animates the relationship between man and his natural environment.”
The photographs in this exhibition capture this spiritual essence, an ensemble of novel images that are at once mythical and poetic at the same time.
