Vamp: a seductive woman who exploits men by use of her sexual charms
Women’s legs are commonly depicted by the media as symbols of sexual appeal, often paired with shoes and stockings. Yuri, a South Korean artist currently residing in Singapore, presents a series of paintings depicting women adopting provocative postures titled VAMP. The exhibition aims to stimulate the audience’s imagination and perception of men-women relationships. Her works feature two aspects of a women’s leg, the aesthetic beauty of the subject versus the exploitation of women through sexual appeal.
Vamp was created during Yuri’s artist-in-residency program in Ginestrelle in Italy, this summer. Amongst the works, 2 pieces will be exhibited in the international collective exhibition at the prestigious Art Gallery Le Logge in December 2012.
