Chromatic Freedom
by Heng Artland Singapore
Location: Heng Artland Singapore
Artist(s): LI Mu
Date: 21 May - 5 Jun 2011

“I think painting is a kind of contemplation; it keeps me contemplating about both the positive and negative aspect of things, as well as their complicated relationships. In my view, painting is also an experience, involving both body and mind, which people can never get tired of. In the course of experience, the impossible becomes possible, and the possible becomes impossible."

- Li Mu

Li Mu, aged 53, is a professor at the Arts Academy, Tshinghua University, Beijing. Since 1996, he has visited France, USA, Morocco and Spain to conduct study tours and paint with enthusiasm. His works are well-received among art collectors and institutions such as China Industrial and Commercial Bank, Merrill Lynch, DBS Bank, Morgan Stanley, Guangdong Provincial Arts Museum, China Embassy in France, Taiwan Midlink Museum etc. He has held several solo and joint exhibitions in Beijing, Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Houston, Fukuoka, Taipei, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

The “Chromatic Freedom – The Art of Limu” exhibition organized by Heng Artland features 23 oil paintings and 2 acrylic paintings created during the period between 2000 and 2011. Through the unique composition, brilliant colours and free execution, the artist re-enacts his impression of the big cities he has set his foot on and leaves behind spontaneity, musical touch and flow in his works, All these contribute to the aesthetic beauty and collection value of his paintings.
