Mixed media installation
Daydreams from a lonely island, a newly created multimedia installation, revisits some of the themes from the artist’s previous works in the last three years. Occupying two adjacent rooms, the first space greets the visitor with darkness filled with luminous images and surreal sculptures culled from his memories and imagination. In stark contrast, the second space is a white cube with minimal intervention; the disquiet quality imbued in the room invites visitors to sit down and contemplate the artworks at a slower pace.
The contrasting mood of each room, conveying stillness and movement, lightness and gravity, resonates closely with the artist’s obsessions and emotional states experienced from his life. Seeking structures in the patterns of behaviour observed from his surroundings, Daydreams from a lonely island is an intensely personal universe that is at once strange and familiar.
