In her third solo exhibition titled Maya-An Illusion, Joyotee explores the defining moments and characters from the monumental Indian epic, Mahabharata.
With the bold colours and fluid lines that distinguish her style, she gracefully lifts the characters from their surroundings to delve into their psyche. Be it Draupadi's anguish after the war, the inner turmoil of Karna or the sublime friendship between Krishn and Krishna, it is clear that Joyotee has personalised the saga to recreate the Maya. Using mixed media as a base, she experiments with three other dimensional effects to tell a story in fifteen frames that is both lyrical and striking.
