Byung Jong Kim's painting involves 'tradition' thoroughly, but tries to form the outside as 'modernism'.
He said the main characteristic of Korean painting is a scene which abstraction and configuration coexist. His painting looks like abstract but objective in detail. It's contemporary but native, so that well harmonized.
In addition, his painting shows aesthetic of traditional living space. It contains yellowish background, strong line on old mud wall and floor, energy, confidence, and power, but is beautiful. Kim's art works embrace Korean power and beauty.
