Unexpected Journey to the East
by Gallery Godo
Location: Gallery Godo
Artist(s): Linda HYONG
Date: 14 Nov - 20 Nov 2012

I lost my father after 13 days I was born, and my elder brother who has participated in the Vietnam War. And, my mom passed away in 2009. I realized my art doesn't exist for creation but the philosophy about life, death and revival.
Since 1995, I have worked mixed media. Following creative art from the Renaissance to impressionism, I finally found the greats love for arts in Illinois. To express the image I found, I used my experiment expression and created contemporary impressionism based on imagination.
Under the reality, I approach to the subjects in ordinary life, and tell my mother's warmness and comfort through a way of expression mixing contemporary art and Orientalism. Also, with transparent colour, I created my own colours. My work has been started in my high school, and it was introduced on local newspaper. I have participated in new woman artists exhibition at Illinois Museum as representing university of Illinois. Also, I have been selected 4 woman artists from Chicago Artists association.
