Gallery We is featuring the solo exhibition of So Hyung Kim, who paints the various images of the world and people in patterning and graphing. In works, she makes a space of pattern beyond a time and space. A space has been changed from a emotional landscape focusing on texture to one in expressionism emphasizing colors, and she recently changed it into graphed one to symbolize a preface of unified city structure.
In this exhibition, the artist focuses on a story of avatar and a cube-shaped space where loses the distinct characteristics of the certain area. Recent works show cubes in wild and sharp shape. And there is avatar instead of a human. The artist reflects a belief in lost space and nostalgia on a landscape of uniformed cubes. Avatars are the artist's story and applied to individual story of people in the contemporary society as well.
