Gallery Sun Contemporary is thrilled to introduce the upcoming exhibition 'Two different concept of heal' by Gil-Woo Lee, who has used incense to make holes on Korean paper and stack them together as an unique form, from 11 September to 3 October.
A look at the images in his works shows mix of two disparate thing, using celebrities or characters, on traditional landscape. It seems like pop-art in a part of using famous person or character, but pictorial methodology, which shows his effort to examine spiritual and oriental value of painting, is more important in his works. His distinctive painting is the mix of relationless factors, such as various color and forms, West and East, and human nature and esthetic sense.
The theme of this exhibition 'two different concept of heal' is based on his personal experience. As watching his father's bodily illness, and mother's illness of the mind, he contained feelings of one's life into artworks. He wants to heal this destiny. By his hard art work with incense, the desire of healing his parents and viewers is reflected. Beautiful scenery and holes on his artworks make our mind and body calm down.
