Gallery SUN Contemporary is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by Korean sculptor Kim Gyung Min. At her solo exhibition entitled “LIFE STORY”, Kim presents 13 new works and invites viewers to the exhibition space where many colorful stories are unfold.
 
Kim Gyung Min, with her sensitive perception and rich sentiment, reproduces scenes taken from our daily lives and turn them into a joyful sculpture works. As a mother of three children and a wife to a husband, artist Kim finds subject from everyday happenings at home which is a big part of her life and sculpts three-dimensional figures with an add of her fertile imagination. She used to focus on each individual in a group. She still bases her work around family yet new sculptures for <LIFE STORY> show Kim has put more emphasis on each family member’s role and their harmony as a whole. For this exhibition, space composition and elaborate setting also catch the eyes of visitors. The exhibition space on the ground floor reminds a scene from a short play and viewers become a part of this story told by Kim’s artificial figures thus naturally share the artist’s intention of pursuing happiness of daily life and little joys.
 
Kim Gyung Min received her B.F.A and M.F.A from Sungshin Women’s University and is currently working on her doctorate at Hongik University. Following completion of graduate course, she received the Grand Prize at the 7th Korea Figurative Sculpture Art Festival sponsored by MBC which had won the artist recognition from the art scene and collectors. Her works are housed in countless institutions such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art, MBC Television Network and Boramae Hospital, Seoul’s municipal hospital.
