There's nothing wrong with female artists!
by The Tolman Collection, Tokyo
Location: The Tolman Collection
Date: 1 Nov - 8 Nov 2009

The days are drawing in, the air is getting colder – though there have been inklings of a seasonal change for a few weeks, I think that it is time to admit that autumn is finally here. In order to comfort our customers who are lacking in cheer at the thought of the cold months ahead, we decided to add a little extra something to our annual exhibition program.

As well as our regularly scheduled show at the end of November (more on that soon in its very own email), we will be holding a week long show of women artists from November 1st to 8th.  Please come, have a glass of wine, and check out works by Saito Noriko, Okada Marie, Oda Mayumi, Shiomi Nana and Matsubara Naoko.  Of all ages, and working in a variety of media, these artists have gender and ability in common!

Since we are on the topic of women artists, we are always delighted to show prints and paintings by Shinoda Toko.  When you come to see the show mentioned above, take a look at our Toko Shinoda room.  We have an even more wonderful than usual selection at present as we are preparing for Ms. Shinoda’s first ever painting exhibit in Beijing, at the renowned Lan Club, from November 21st.

As the father of two daughters, I am fully aware that March 8th (International Women’s Day) would perhaps be a more appropriate time to hold a show on the question of gender.  However, as well as my children, I also like to consider my dear customers and I think that you will enjoy this show of talented artists.  Consider it a good start to the fall season.
