It is said that our normal body temperature is 98.6°F and we need medical treatment if our body temperature exceeds 100°F.So we set 100°F as the temperature that begins to have harmful effects on the body and named the exhibition “100 degrees Fahrenheit”. “100 degrees Fahrenheit vol.0” was held in June 2008 as our first exhibition, and “100 degrees Fahrenheit vol.1” was held as the first anniversary. Both exhibitions showed the heat and energy of the new generation, as exemplified by our name, “CASHI” (which means fahrenheit in Japanese).
In the third part of this series, we are going to exhibit the work of 4 young artists: Kei Umiya’s wood-carving is romantic and detailed with a motif of nature. The steel work of Tomohiro Inaba is carefully crafted based on the details of his own imagination. Takahiro Toyama’s painting is realistic, calm and somewhat melancholic, using flowers as the main motif. Yugo Isaji uses everyday stationary to produce a ready-made looking work that is minimal and animalistic.
The artists will attend the reception party on June 4th. You are invited to have a look at and share with your friends the new ideas of CASHI, which is celebrating its third year.
