Right in the center, in the 11th floor of this “city inside the city”-building we insert “Tokyo Layers”, the series of photo works by Makoto Sasaki. Five large scale art pieces in the exhibition show Megalopolis as a place of multi-directed and synchronous times, the network of elevated bustling lights and radiating motions. Sasaki is using a technique of capturing the city with the camera in movement and the shot taken from a fast running glass elevator in Tokyo skyscrapers. In his works the extension of light in captured image comes together with its black out, the line absorbs the rhythm and the photo comes closer to the abstract painting where light leaves its trace, Tokyo reveals it pulse and the city start to breath. While photos of Tokyo are being installed on the wall next to the 7 meters high windows opened to the center of Beijing the exhibition brings two cities together, organizing theirencounter and generating their synchronous beat, the dance of their layers and lights.
