Simon Fageus is an artist who works based in Sweden. We feature his works from his new series “The Island”, shots in Yakushima, Gunkanjima, Ioujima and many another islands during his stay in Japan. Nowadays, sea level is rising and many islands are disappearing worldwide, these landscape photographs seem to be covered with a white film, show the changing form of islands. He says,“An island is a place to discover, escape, expand or isolate our selves. As if blinded by bright sunlight, I bleached out pictures takes the viewer on a journey trough historic islands and landscapes. A fragmented history in constant transformation.”
