November
by Soka Art Center
Location: Soka Art Center
Artist(s): Kiriko IIDA
Date: 6 Nov - 28 Nov 2010

When the leaves turn red and the cicadas end their summer concerto, the season of autumn arrives; the overture of November starts. “霜月じゅういちがつ”, “Frost Month” is the Japanese meaning of November, referring to the frost that starts in the month of November. In the beginning of November 2010, IIDA Kiriko’s first Taiwan solo exhibition in Soka Art Center – Taipei takes the audience on a journey to the beginning of winter.

Born in 1970 in Hokkaido, Japan, IIDA Kiriko holds many solo exhibitions and participates in major international art fairs such as “Art Taipei 2008”(2008, Taipei), “Tokyo Contemporary Art Fair” (2007&2008, Tokyo), “2009 Young Art Taipei” (2009, Taipei) after graduating from Hokkaido Institute of Design. Her works achieve outstanding performances in every exhibition by carrying a reminiscence and fantastic style, expressing a sense of innocence and hope.

IIDA Kiriko brings the audience a journey of fantasy with her first solo exhibition in Taiwan, appreciate her works slowly, and you will discover a new world in every blank space through her paintings. Soka Art Center – Taipei sincerely invites you to take a walk along with IIDA Kiriko, and step onto the journey in the month of November to move toward to the next spring of your life on the opening reception day on November 6, 2010.
