The prominent Chinese painter, Mao Yan was born in central China's Hunan province in 1968, and graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. Best-known for his skillful portraiture, Mao Yan's works are often very sketch-like show the human figure in psychological and poetic dimensions. The artist has had numerous international group as well as solo exhibitions at the Shanghai Art Museum; CHINA TODAY Gallery, Brussels; HanArt TZ Gallery, Hong Kong; and the Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts in China.
